After just 8 games with the Chicago Blackhawks, Belleville native Andrew Shaw (#65), has racked up 5 goals, 2 assists and 27 shots on net.
Son of long time ITS employee Darlene Shaw, Andrew and his younger brother Jason (OHL Belleville Bulls) have worked summers at ITS for years. Andrew got a reputation in the OHL as having “a much bigger game than his size”. Standing 5’10’ and 180 lbs, Andrew sites Wendell Clark as his inspiration and is well known for his no fear approach to playing the game.
“He’s pretty remarkable,” said Hawks Coach Joel Quenneville. “He gives us offense and energy, but his instincts in all aspects of the game are top line. He competes. He just keeps going. You have to admire that.”
ITS President Rob Haggarty adds, “It’s been a pleasure seeing this young man evolve as an outstanding athlete. His accomplishment of graduating from the OHL to the NHL is absolutely huge. At twenty years old, he is shaking things up in a big way, especially for a first year rookie in the NHL. We’re extremely proud of Andrew and wish him our very best as he lives the dream he’s worked so hard to achieve!”
